Summer Programs Overview

Pre-Comp Swim School

PTBO Swim Club’s Summer Swim School is a fun, positive, skills-based introduction to competitive swimming for children ages 7 to 10 who can swim 25m independently.

Designed for swimmers who are comfortable in the pool, this 4 week program includes two 1 hour classes per week. Our Summer Swim School is guided by our head coach, Pre-Competitive coach and coaches with an extensive competitive swimming background.  Swimmers will build confidence, efficiency, and a love for swimming while developing and refining technique in all four competitive strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly.

Instruction also introduces streamlines, underwater dolphin kicks, dives from the starting block, flip turns, open turns. Coaches emphasize proper body awareness and position, kicking, breathing, balance, and consistent practice habits in a structured, encouraging environment.

Swim School is an excellent pathway for swimmers interested in progressing to PTBO’s competitive programs, while also supporting those who simply want to improve their skills, water confidence, fitness, and enjoyment of swimming.

The program focuses on building confidence, comfort, and independence in the water while helping swimmers work toward personal goals. Participants will develop essential skills including water acclimation, floats, glides, breath control, front and back kicking, safe movement in the water, and an introductory approach to front (freestyle) and back(backstroke) swim.
